Thank you to all those who applied to speak at Greenfest, applications to speak at Greenfest 2008 are now closed.  There has been a tremendous response and we are looking forward to a great speakers festival.   

Speakers will be selected and advised by 18th July and list published 8th August for festival is on 10-12th October.

Each selected speaker for the festival, will be offered between 10 and 15 minutes to speak, and then join a panel discussion at the end of the session.

The speakers festival theme is "Fresh energy from Brisbane" celebrating creative ideas and actions for a greener future!  The guide topics are listed below, they may be adjusted or modified once all applications have been assessed.

1. Green words: green poetry and creative writing.
2. Envisaging green: green artists.
3. Life on earth and Australia's importance:
   1. Australian biodiversity: Australia is one of the world’s mega diverse regions, what are the current programs, plans, issues?
   2. Indigenous culture.
   3. Population.
4. Market Forces : Consumer power, producer power, media power, regulator power; status trends and issues
5. Green Cities:  Town planning, waste management, trains, planes and automobiles, best practices
6. Food: Feeding the world, genetic engineering, organic farming and permaculture; status, trends and issues
7. Energy :
   1. Greenhouse gases and climate change.
   2. Energy alternatives: “clean” coal, nuclear, renewables: thinking big.
   3. Individual choices
8. Can Australia, Queensland and Brisbane make a difference?
   1. Leadership, action, working together.
   2. The Greenfest challenge: setting your target for October 2009.
