Performance Time - Saturday 6th June @ 4pm

It is the darkness that makes the sun so impressive, the light that invites you to dwell in the shade.

This tug of war between day and night, good and evil, light and dark is what makes emerging independent act Autumn Sun so very intriguing. Fusing sophisticated folk grooves with soul tipped intelligent pop; Autumn Sun's music manages to be mature yet inquisitive and bold whilst vulnerable.

From their quiet beginnings as a Sunny Coast beach dwelling duo to their current state as a Brisbane based four pieced band, Autumn Sun's constant state of evolution has made them an exciting act to watch. Since forming in late 2006, Autumn Sun has gone on to capture the hearts and ears of audiences with their intimate and energetic brand of live show. And with the upcoming release of their second EP and an east coast tour planned for mid 2009, there is no better time to take a step into the Sun light.

THE SHOW

Autumn Sun bring to the stage all the tightness and technicality of a highly rehearsed act coupled with the energy and enthusiasm of a spontaneous muso’s jam. And their originality and showmanship hasn't gone unnoticed. In 2007, they were awarded a development deal from Tsunami Magazine after competing in the Sunshine Coast's annual Acoustic Sessions Competition. They've also placed in the top 10 on the Triple J Unearthed Charts and ranked in the top 5 tracks on noisehead.com, a website showcasing over 10,000 acts from around the globe. The extensive list of artists that they've shared the bill with is impressive. Some highlights includePete Murray, The Whitlams, Lior, Kate Miller-Heidke, Shawn Mullins, Ash Grunwald, The Boat People, Tripod, Ian Moss, Jimmy Barnes, Vanessa Amorosi, Roy Ayers, Mental as Anything, Daryl Braithwaite, Tame Impala, Hungry Kids of Hungary, The Blackwater Fever & Jon Cleary just to name a handful.

After well received performances at the 2007 Caloundra Music Festival, Autumn Sun were invited back to play once again at the festival in 08. They also performed at the inaugural Greenfest in Brisbane and have been invited back to perform again in 2009. And lastly, Autumn Sun showed a softer side by doing a few acoustic shows at The Mt Tamborine Peace festival in mid 2008. And the festival list keeps growing to include shows at both New South Welsh and Victorian Festivals this year.

In the last 12 months Autumn Sun have clocked up a huge amount of live shows playing to packed venues such as The Troubadour in Brisbane, The Upfront Club in Maleny, The Tongue and Groove in West End, Rics in Fortitude Valley and almost every other venue in South East Queensland, or so it would seem. They've also received airplay on both commercial and community radio with support from stations like Hot 91 on the Sunshine Coast, 4ZZZ in Brisbane, the 2008 Community Radio Station of the Year - Noosa Community Radio and on line station DownUnder Thunda Radio dedicated to promoting independent artists. In the process they have managed to build a solid, loyal and ever growing following of fans from around the country.
