Sean Fitzgibbon

I grew up in Brisbane and since early childhood I have had a love of nature which eventually led me to study zoology. From my youth I have many fond memories of adventures along (& in) Bulimba Creek, Seven Hills Bushland, Toohey Forest, Mt Cootha and other green areas of Brisbane, searching for frogs, fish, turtles etc. I have no doubt that it was the ready availability of these urban bushland patches that fostered my fascination with wildlife and general appreciation for nature and the connectedness of our lives to it. I would be happy to share some of these memories and the importance of urban greenspace/bushland with the Greenfest audience.
I studied zoology at Uni of Qld and went on to complete a PhD examining wildlife survival in urban Brisbane (with a focus on the secret lives of bandicoots in the 'burbs). I now work as a wildlife researcher at UQ on a project I proposed aimed at examining 'green developments'.
I am 32, enjoy a bit of sport and a post-match beer, I rent in West End and love living in Brissie where most of my family is still located.
