Climate Leadership

Climate Leadership is a group of Brisbane-based professionals committed to promoting strong front line environmental  leadership.

Human-induced climate change is the culmination of many generations  living unsustainably, to the point where global systems like the climate and oceanic circulation patterns are being affected. The move to a sustainable lifestyle will require a transformation  as least as major as the Industrial Revolution. And  we have to make the change within  5-10 years  .

Climate Leadership promotes and supports individuals who are leading the change to more climate-friendly ways of living and doing business. The Individuals being selected are both active professionally and personally committed to more sustainable lifestyles. They are available for speaking and media engagements and are willing to provide advice or resources and mentoring for others at minimal or no cost. Many are  available as professional consultants. (Details  coming soon).

Climate Leadership is based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. At present all the leaders who are being selected are based in S.E. Queensland and northern New South Wales.

The Director of Climate Leadership, Richard Cassels, is currently Director of the Greenfest Speaker Festival (see www.greenfest.com.au) and is an Honorary Research Fellow at the Queensland Museum in Environmental History and Sustainable Futures. In 2006 he convened the popular seminar “Climate Change Down Under ( see http://www.qm.qld.gov.au/features/webcasts/07climatechange/index.asp)
For 25 years he managed museums in New Zealand and Australia, before which he was a Senior Lecturer in Archaeology, specialising in the environmental impact of prehistoric peoples. He and his wife have created, and live in, a “more-sustainable” home in Brisbane (see http://www.solarhouseday.com).
