Mark Easton
Performance Time - Friday 5th June @ 8pm • Saturday 6th June @ 1pm
Mark Easton is a high octane one man blues machine who excels in slide guitar. He uses a loop system to layer his music, which combined with wicked harmonica and drumming with his feet provides a full, infectious sound to grab the crowd's attention. His focus is on original material with left-of-centre covers dispersed throughout each set. As Mark says "I play dirty, white trash blues like I'm a one man band on steroids."
After two years of honing his solo shos in the sticky carpeted smoky drinking holes across Australia Mark's first solo album was released on 2 February 2009. The title track from the new album has already been picked up by radio stations both across the country and internationally and is currently sitting at #1 on the acoustic blues charts on mp3.com.au.
The new album “Money is the Root of All Evil” is full of stomping grooves! It’s darker than previous albums. Anyone who is already familiar with Mark’s music will be in for a surprise. It captures Mark’s live energy and showcases his multi instrumental prowess with the songs being built around the loops he creates on the fly and layered to create a band vibe without the headaches! It's a more than worthy follow up to "Bandwagon" and in some ways is back on track from where "Greener" left off with some innovative and cutting edge slide guitar playing.
Mark has been nominated for two awards at the Australian Blues Music Awards (best album "Bandwagon" and best new talent) and three awards at the Blue Star Awards (best Australisian band, best electric guitarist and best album). He has performed at the Goulburn Blues, The Brisbane Urban Blues & Roots and Blues on Broadbeach Festivals and was at the Thredbo Blues Festival in January '09. He is also scheduled to perform again at Blues on Broadbeach this year in May and of course, Greenfest in June. He has played alongside acts such as The Vasco Era, Dallas Frasca, Pete Cornelius, Mojo Webb, 8 Ball Aitken and Eugene 'Hideaway' Bridges.
"The first time I saw Mark solo I have to say his voice growled like a delta bluesman when not having to compete with a band" - Tony Jaggers, Mojos and Jellyrolls, EAR FM, Moruya, NSW
