QUEENSLAND’S LARGEST producer of certified organic vegies. The
property lies in a very picturesque valley and is made up of 5, mostly
adjoining, farms. It is located in the fertile Lockyer Valley just over
an hour west of Brisbane in one of the “Top Ten Most Fertile Farming
Areas in the World”.
THE PROPERTY is owned and managed by Rob Bauer and his son
Anthony, with a team of workers including Anthony’s brother Phil, as
the farm’s mechanic. Of the 363 ha approximately half is cultivated for
vegies with the other half running 150 head of certified organic beef
cattle.
At Bauer’s Organic Farm they farm in a carbon neutral manner. They:
• have run many regeneration programs with Landcare for 25 years.
• protect remnant vegetation patches.
• devote over half the farm to wildlife habitat.
• purchased neighbouring properties to “grow with their market” and still rest the soil.
• helped pioneer the Landcare Movement in Australia.
• are registered as a Land for Wildlife property.

They also use:
• approx. one third less water than conventional farmers.
• minimal cultivation, incorporating much organic matter back into the soil.
• enviro-friendly packaging where practical, working with packaging companies to improve.

vegetable gardens. He will have free information booklets to hand out

FARMING SUSTAINABLY - The Bauer’s are now into their sixth
generation on this farm and have fed many thousands of customers with
top quality produce. They have farmed here for almost 125 years and the
property is as healthy now as it was back then. You can’t get more
sustainable than that !!!
Customers often comment that the produce from this
farm tastes so good. This is due to the organic production methods, the
quality water and extremely fertile soils. GREAT TASTE ....
NATURALLY !!!
