The Faze
The Faze cashed in popularity on Triple J’s Unearthed chart to independently release their first single “She Never”. Recorded late last year in Brisbane, the song was ‘road tested’ on Triple J’s highly respected Unearthed site and immediately went to No.1 where it remained for two weeks. Their funky Mr Sunshine (3rd), was also added to “Caroline Tran from Home and Hosed favourite plays” on Triple J's home page, while Untied Laces was 18th.
It was a ‘sliding doors’ moment in a Brisbane CD store which led to the creation of energetic indie pop rock band. The four guys, who by sheer coincidence are all hereditarily linked to the tiny island of Rhodes in the Mediterranean, came together after lead singer Steve and lifelong friend Manny wandered into JB Hi Fi at Macgregor to buy a cassette to record their musical thoughts. After a brief conversation with the floor salesman, who happened to be Nick, the band got together and soon after, played their first gig at The Living Room in November 2006.
In their first 12 months, The Faze shared stages with the likes of 28 Days, Mammal, The Audreys, Silver Sun Pick Ups and Youth Group. They released their debut self titled EP to a sell out crowd at The Living Room and played the Valley Fiesta and Rage Stage in 2007 and supported Krill on their eastern coast single launch tour in March 2008. Besides their successful EP launch and strong and loyal fan base, The Faze were also sought out by US record label which used their song Fire In The Snow on a compilation album.
