Suzuki has raised the international bar on achieving outstanding fuel efficiency and sustainability by unveiling its latest sub-compact car series - the Alto on to the international market and with a special pre-release preview at Greenfest.

With a fuel economy figure based on European testing standards, that has yielded a micro-sipping 4.5 litres per 100km - that's more than 60 miles per gallon for people who think pre-metric, the Alto is set to create a motoring revolution.

While Suzuki always has been a world leader in the design and manufacture of compact vehicles with outstanding durability, technical innovation, affordability and retained value, the Alto sets an even higher standard.

As Suzuki's fourth world car model, it has been designed to appeal to a broad market demographic where sensational fuel economy, spritely performance, ease of handling and parking, low maintenance and running costs and a contemporary, funky design are far more important than a person's age group or gender.

The engine's sprightliness already has helped the Alto secure its first Car Of The Year Award - it came from Zig, India's leading motoring web site.

Here's how the judges summed up the Alto's brilliant engine: “… in its actual delivery in terms of acceleration from standstill, in-gear driveability and top speed, it is the proverbial David with the wherewithal to massacre many Goliaths”.

Suzuki’s first Alto model was released on May 11, 1979 and continued to remain as the world's leading
sub-compact vehicle for the next 14 years . Powered by a two stroke 500cc engine it is still seen on roads today. Suzuki Auto Co. General
Manager, Mr Keith Carroll said: “With such outstanding credentials, we look for
to welcoming the Alto back on to the
Queensland
market. The Suzuki Alto will be on display at
Greenfest
, where people will have the opportunity to book a test drive for its
August release.
