Ikhaya

It's in our name
Ikhaya means ‘home’ in Zulu. We sell Modern African Homewares that bring the warm spirit of the Rainbow Nation to Australia.
Ikhaya sources fun, quirky products from South Africa & surrounding African countries. We love traditional African craft but also love the combination of art & recycling in authentic African style.
Inspired by these pieces Ikhaya hopes to help the crafters by selling their products in Australia & enabling another nation to enjoy these beautiful pieces!
About our founder
I am originally from Cape Town, having moved to Brisbane in December 2006. Being here I miss the 'Africanness' from home!! The best way to overcome this is to bring Africa to me in the form of this business. I love the craft & appreciate the detail & technique involved. It brings me so much joy as each piece proves that no matter what, life is worth celebrating!
From the markets of Africa to the Markets of Brisbane!
Ikhaya currently has 4 market stalls.
- Jan Power’s Farmers market Powerhouse – 2nd & 4th Sat of the month
- Ikhaya has decided not to continue with the Manly or Mitchelton market until later in the year! When I am back I will make sure you all know about it!
The success of the stall at Jan Power's markets has lead to this internet shop & Ikhaya still continues to grow!
