Organic a Winner at Greenfest (Biological Farmers of Australia, 15 June 2009)

A celebration of things organic, green and sustainable lit up the Brisbane City Botanic Gardens over the Queen’s Birthday weekend at Greenfest 2009. Making the most of glorious golden winter weather, thousands of visitors flocked in to enjoy the music, taste the organic food and indulge in some environmentally-responsible retail therapy.

A drawcard for visitors of all ages was the stall run by organic representative group Biological Farmers of Australia (BFA), including certifying arm Australian Certified Organic (ACO).

Parents took the opportunity to brush up on their knowledge of what organic food is all about, where to buy it and how to grow it with consultant organic farmers Rob Bauer and Lyn Bagnall available for questions at the stall. read more

Tesla Electrifies (The Courier-Mail, 13 June 2009)

THE future of motoring is quiet, powerful and electrifying, according to Tesla.

The world's fastest electric car rolled into Brisbane for the second annual Greenfest last weekend and the Tesla Roadster was also put through its paces at Queensland Raceway where the V8 Supercars usually roar.

While there was no roar from the quiet electric car, there was still plenty of V8-style acceleration with the tiny vehicle whipping up to 100km/h in an impressive 4.2 seconds on a wet track with two people on board. read more

Going Green at Festival (Northern Times, 11 June 2009)

PINE Rivers residents were some of the 60,000 visitors to take part in the second Greenfest event, which took place at the City Botanic Gardens over three days from World Environment Day last Friday .

In keeping with the event’s sustainable message, many walked, some pedalled, and others caught public transport to get to Greenfest. read more

Greenfest 2009 shines on Brisbane (Gold Coast Mail, 8 June 2009)

THE 60,000 Queenslanders who attended Greenfest 2009 - Australia's largest free green festival - over the Queen's Birthday weekend were treated to an amazing three days of fun, colour, music and art under impeccable Brisbane skies, with the popular consensus being the event was an incredible success.

Staged in the lush tropical landscapes of the City Botanic Gardens, the festival was a celebration of all things green and environmental, featuring over 50 musical acts, 150 exhibitors, 50 speakers, a film festival and a green motor show. read more

An Electric Speedster (The Courier-Mail, 6 June 2009) 

NOT everything green is slow.

A sports car that accelerates to 100km/h in only four seconds and has a top speed of 200km/h will be a highlight at the second annual Greenfest in Brisbane this weekend.

The Tesla Roadster is a plug-in electric-powered supercar with a carbon-fibre chassis built by British motor racing and sports car legends Lotus.  read more

SAAB has provided a BioPower 9-3 SportCombi to the Queensland Government to help promote ethanol-blended fuels. 

The car will be on display at Greenfest this weekend in Brisbane's City Botanic Gardens and is on loan to the government for use as a promotional vehicle for 12 months. read more

Little Alto's big future (The Courier-Mail, 6 June 2009)

DOWNSIZING is the key to fighting the world recession, according to the Queensland Suzuki car importer. 

Keith Williams, CEO of Suzuki Auto Company, said the economical Swift small car had been a major success for the Queensland importer and it would be joined in July by the Alto, the fifth and smallest in its fleet. read more

Sexy Electric Wheels (The Observer, 5 June 2009) 

THIS week, the world's first electric sports car goes on display in Brisbane-and far from a souped up golf cart, this thing is sex on wheels.

The Tesla can go from 0 to 100km/h in just four seconds and can travel at a top speed of 200km/h. It can also hug the highway for more than 350km on a single charge. read more

Greenfest founder Colman Ridge wins world praise (The Courier-Mail, 18 May 2009) 

If Colman Ridge had an aura, it would be positively green. 

"If we are trying to solve the biggest problem of all time then we need to work together in a way that's better than ever before," he says between slurps of organic coffee after jumping off his electric scooter.

"We need positive messages and positive energy."

Ridge, a fresh-faced 43, is the founder and organiser of Greenfest – Brisbane's pioneering free festival promoting sustainable solutions to the planet's climate change woes read more
