Dr Jane Goodall Launches Aussie Green Leadership!
A local Brisbane community initiative bringing people together to win the race against climate change will be officially opened on Friday 10 October at South Bank Parklands by world renowned naturalist Dr Jane Goodall together with acclaimed Australian iconic actor Jack Thompson, the Queensland Treasurer, Hon Andrew Fraser, film Directors Kim Kindersley and Cathy Henkle, conservation groups and over 150 commercial exhibitors.
“Greenfest” is a free event from 10 – 12 October and is being promoted as “a place for fresh energy” which uniquely positions the Green challenge as an opportunity to reinvent the world rather than being a doom and gloom affair. Dr Goodall arrives in Brisbane tomorrow for the opening event at the Piazza, South Bank at midday Friday 10th, with a presentation called “Reasons for hope”.
The organisers of Greenfest hope that people embrace the positive energy and opportunity to think about how they can make a difference. Full details are viewable at www.greenfest.com.au
Greenfest founder Colman Ridge says “we are also honoured to have local elder Eddie Ruska welcome us to country and look forward to enjoying the opening performances by Nunukul Yuggera and the Torres Strait Island Dance Group”.
