Released 17 April 2009
Fresh energy at Greenfest launch
Greenfest will announce the 2009 program with support from The Boat People and a broad range of green innovators at the BCC Community Fair to be held at Perrin Park, Taringa on Sunday 26th April.
The festival will commence on World Environment Day, Friday 5th June and has already received the international attention of Achim Steiner, Director of the UNEP. Mr Steiner said “ When the people of Brisbane come together at Greenfest to share their hopes and commitments for the future, they will be joining millions of others around the globe on World Environment Day.”
The launch in Perrin Park on the 26th will reveal the full program with highlights such as appearances from international eco-fashion super model Summer Rayne Oaks, the world’s fastest electric car the Tesla Roadster, celebrity chef cooking, music, film, speakers, workshops and a great time for all ages.
The international interest in the festival has come due to the authentic nature of the local grassroots support with over 20 conservation groups and 200 exhibitors over all planned to be there in June. In the upcoming launch on the 26th April there will be a range of local leaders in business aiming to produce greener choices for our needs including:
-
The world’s first purpose built air to water machine called the Watermill presented by Ajanta Willert from West End ( Picture attached). The Watermill produces 12 litres of water per day from one standard solar panel powering it’s condensation systems.
-
A modular bicycle hub which can drop into carparks hosting 10-20 bikes, shower, locker rooms and toilet and fits perfectly into one standard carpark, presented by Tim Ceolin of Penny Farthing Pushbike Parking
